A map for FPS Game or TPS Game



Team: Solo Project

Time: 2 weeks

Tool: Unreal Engine 5, Blueprint, Photoshop, AE


Ideas:


A two-level bank design for FPS Games can be used in PVP or PVE.





Win or Lose:


Win: Kill the right target or all enemies.

Lose: Did not finish in time.


Key Features:

  • Two different attacking directions

  • Balanced defense team's advantages

  • Multi-directional angles of attack


Key design ideas:


The primary design concept involves crafting an indoor scenario for both PVE and PVP modes, featuring one team attacking and one team defending.


The main battleground is indoors, with an outdoor path for attackers to approach from various directions.


The layout includes multiple rooms on the first and second levels, providing strategic positioning options.




Three access points, two staircases, and a lift facilitate vertical movement from different locations.



To balance advantages, defense is limited to one space on the second floor facing the ground floor hall, while the spiral staircase provides cover for attackers, allowing them to navigate the interior of the ground floor.




Challenges Encountered:


Level Design:
  • Determining room size and placement, experimenting with doorways, and adjusting bunker layout for player comfort.

  • Iterative adjustments in Unreal Engine to fine-tune layouts and test door sizes.

  • Balanced the strengths of both teams and set up covers.




Programming:
  • AI clustering and stagnation due to small door sizes preventing simultaneous movement.

  • Resolved by modifying door sizes and adjusting blueprints to address AI collision issues.



Modifications Made:


Level Design:
  • Carefully adjusted room size, placement, and door positions to enhance overall flow.

  • Focused on creating a comfortable and intuitive player experience.

  • Adjusted cover layouts through continuous learning, striving to balance advantages for both teams.


Programming:
  • Addressed AI clustering by resizing doors to allow smoother movement.

  • Modified blueprints to prevent AI collision issues, ensuring more fluid AI behavior.



Summary:


The design emphasizes balancing gameplay dynamics and addresses challenges encountered during the creation process. Continuous learning and adjustments in cover layouts contribute to a well-thought-out and engaging indoor scenario.
